Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Evangeline Farrer

June 6 [1938 or 1939]

From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

My Dear Evangeline
But I must just answer!
When I think of all the people who gave up 8 Sunday afternoons to rehearsing the Mass I feel ashamed of the little I do.
Yrs
R Vaughan Williams

P.S. After all it is really I who get all the fun and everybody else who has all the bother.

General notes:

Presumably relates to a performance of Bach's Mass in B minor in Dorking at the Leith Hill Musical Festival.
